Electromagnetic Furnace Stirring (EMS)
Cost Effective Air Cooled Electromagnetic Furnace Stirring System
The Hydeb inductor is 100% air-cooled and eliminates the need for expensive, complex, and potentially unsafe water-cooling systems near the furnace. Hydeb engineers design, build, and install each machine customized to individual customer requirements, ensuring a smooth transition to electromagnetic stirring technology. With nearly 100 installations worldwide, Hydeb has become the preferred supplier of electromagnetic stirrers for many companies due to the unparalleled success and performance achieved in each installation.
Concept
Hydeb's EMS operates on the principle of a linear induction motor. A low-frequency air-cooled inductor is positioned on the bottom or side of a furnace. When electrical power is applied to the coil, a magnetic field is generated, creating powerful movement of molten metal. The magnetic field penetrates any type or thickness of refractory material, allowing Hydeb to install EMS on virtually any furnace type or configuration. The system makes no physical contact with the melt and contains no moving parts.
Versatile Applications
Hydeb's EMS delivers exceptional power and can be utilized in numerous stirring applications including bottom-mounted, side-mounted, side-well chamber pumping, multi-chamber circulation, and more.
The combination of our patented control system and inductor design enables customers to adjust the strength and direction of the electromagnetic field multiple times during a furnace cycle. This optimizes stirring effectiveness whether during melting, alloying, or holding stages for both bottom-mounted and side-mounted applications. These capabilities minimize electrical energy consumption while maximizing melt rates and alloy yield.
Performance Results
Increased Productivity
Enhanced thermal transfer of burner energy to solid metal, improved alloy dissolution, and reduced dross formation contribute to significant productivity increases.
Energy Savings
The air-cooled inductor design typically uses 90-140kWh per furnace cycle while reducing gas consumption by up to 15%, resulting in substantial annual energy savings.
Temperature and Chemical Homogeneity
Once stirring begins, the thermal gradient between the top and bottom of the bath reaches ±5°C within just 5 minutes.
