As Hydrogen gas leaves the solidifying metal, it leaves tracks in the metal in the form of porosity. Such porous Aluminium castings are not acceptable in the industry for obvious reasons. To avoid this kind of porosity, it is important to degas the metal before it is poured into moulds for solidifying.
